POLITICS UNDER THE SIGNS OF EQUIFINALITY, SYNECHISM AND OVERCOMING MORTALITY: ON THE SPATIO-TEMPORAL DIMENSION OF POLITICAL PHENOMENA

Abstract (English):
In the essay, which is a response to the article by M.V. Ilyin «Fundamental Challenge. Are the Possibilities of Political Science Missed?», theses are developed about the spatio-temporal nature of everything political and the need for geochronopolitical modeling for methodological renewal in political science. Such modeling is difficult without addressing the fundamental questions of science and even our entire existence. Each individual and even the entire human race cannot be understood outside the categories of life and death, beginnings and ends: the tuning fork of mortality sets the semiotic field for all physiological and cognitive processes associated with it. There are two seemingly mutually exclusive approaches that ultimately meet intellectually and complement each other. Ludwig von Bertalanffy put forward the principle of equifinality, i.e. the beginning and end of each individual living being, which is basic for understanding life and existence in general. Charles Sanders Peirce proposed an equally fundamental principle of synechism, the universal interconnection of all phenomena of life and existence. One assumes the mortality of everything that arises and exists, the other assumes the universal interconnection and the actual overcoming of individual, particular mortality. The unity and complementarity of the principles of Bertalanffy and Peirce allow us to model the universal continuity of the discrete existence of its private instances in time. Political phenomena acquire important moments of their meaning in time. Therefore, both man and everything humanitarian and social are determined not only by spatial, but also always by temporal parameters. The conceptualization of any political concepts - state, nation, democracy, federation, capital, etc. - not as static states, but as dynamic processes complicates the analytical eyepiece of political science by an order of magnitude.
